The teachers from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kirkuk, published each of M.Dr. Abbas Falah Gharib, M.Dr. Ali Saaduddin Abbas, M. Sc.Dr.Sahmi Adwan Mohammed, in the journal (Carbonates and Evaporites) with an impact factor (IF: 1.1) and classified among the scoopas and clarivit absorbers.

The research dealt with the study of the source rocks of the formation of giacara (Chia Gara). Geochemical analyses, including Rock–Eval and TOC, were carried out for 47 rock models and the study was completed by making a model (1D Petromod model).
