The scientific departments of the faculties of Kirkuk University have earned higher ranks than their counterparts in Iraqi universities, in the Iraqi classification of governmental and private universities. The Department of Geology of the Faculty of Science received the first place, the Department of Information of the Faculty of Arts received the second place, and the Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Education of Pure Sciences received the third place. In this regard, Rector Imran Jamal Hassan (Ph.D.) said, "The National Classification represents an important experience in stimulating and competing in institutional and programmatic performance at the level of government colleges and universities. It represents an enabling environment for the formulation of outputs suited to development requirements, commending the role of college deans, professors and university staff, for achieving these achievements, upgrading academic reputation and achieving global competitiveness.
